Hannon Smith Reef

In memory of Dr. Hannon C. Smith, this memorial reef was commissioned by his friend Dr. Michael Williams and deployed in its final resting location on 28 Sep 2010.  The structure is an 8-foot high Florida Artificial Limestone Reef with a plaque facing North.  The inscription on the plaque reads as follows: In Memory of Dr. Hannon C. Smith April 29, 1971 – June 27, 2010 “May all who see this, Spear a big one!”  The position of Dr. Smith’s reef has been verified by MBARA divers Bob and Carol Cox on 29 Sep 2010 with underwater photos.
