Gordon Warren, Jr., age 87, passed away December 15, 2023, after a long illness. He was born in Chipley, Florida on January 12, 1936. Gordon spent his career as an engineer working for the Florida Department of Transportation for more than 30 years, and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. He graduated from Auburn University in 1960 and was a lifelong War Eagle. Gordon lived most of his life in Chipley and was a proud civic booster. Along with his wife Jodie, he chaired one of the carnivals at Kate M. Smith Elementary School. He also chaired the first March of Dimes Walk-a-Thon in Chipley. Gordon introduced Dixie Youth Baseball in Chipley and wrote the grant establishing PALS Park. Additionally, after the City of Chipley obtained a grant to expand Shivers Park, Gordon was tasked with managing the installation of all the new play equipment. He was proud of his work with the Recreations Department and Shivers Park because it was for children. Gordon’s love of fishing started at a young age and he won numerous bass tournaments. Gordon also loved taking people fishing out of Mexico Beach targeting snapper and grouper.
