This reef is in loving memory of Jeff Purcell. Jeff was born and raised in Columbia, Missouri and graduated from Hickman High School. He received a B.S. degree in Fisheries and Wildlife from the University of Missouri – Columbia. Jeff married Kristi Johnson in 1990, and from then on, they made their life together in rural north-central Missouri.
Jeff had a rewarding career with the Missouri Department of Conservation for nearly 30 years as Linn County Conservation Agent and the NW Region District Supervisor until his retirement in November 2010. From then on, his time was spent between Missouri and Mexico Beach, depending on the hunting or fishing season. Jeff loved to share hunting and fishing experiences with all his friends and family, but especially with his favorite hunting partner and first mate Kristi. Jeff made it his purpose to take friends and family on deep-sea fishing adventures and to share something he loved so much with those who might not otherwise have the opportunity. He was so happy when his friends would tell him that he ruined them for any other fishing trip! And now, with this reef, Jeff will continue to help others enjoy the saltwater adventures for which he had such a passion!
